17. August 2022DHL Supply Chain has further expanded its existing Life Sciences & Healthcare (LSH) campus in Florstadt near Frankfurt am Main. The new facility adds a third logistics center with an area of 32,000 m2 to the multi-user campus designed for pharmaceutical and medical products. The new logistics center is within walking distance of the existing warehouse, which DHL has operated since 2015 for a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer, as well as a second facility that commenced operations in January 2018 and serves various renowned clients in the medical and healthcare sector.
(Bonn) The multi-user campus accommodates several clients who require efficient logistics in Germany, Europe, or worldwide. DHL offers providers of medical and pharmaceutical products in Florstadt complete solutions, ranging from standard warehousing and order picking to value-added services such as kitting, labeling, or sampling, as well as highly complex, automated logistics solutions.
The site is licensed under the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG). A dedicated area has been created with capacities for 10,000 pallet spaces. Additionally, various temperature-controlled areas – ambient, cooling, and freezing areas for temperatures down to minus 20 degrees – are available around the clock. Clean rooms can also be set up at the customer’s request.
“Thanks to the capabilities of our experienced and specially trained team, Florstadt offers excellent opportunities for providers of medical and pharmaceutical products due to its strategically advantageous location in the Rhine-Main area and the availability of three temperature zones. We are convinced that together with our customers, we can further develop and expand their business in Germany, Europe, and around the globe. Here, our customers benefit not only from our many years of experience in pharmaceutical logistics and our flexibility to tailor operational processes to customer needs, but also from the good connections to all possible transport modes, which is a real location advantage,” says Rainer Haag, Chief Executive Officer DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps.
The multi-user campus in Florstadt is located about 35 kilometers from the center of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main economic region and is thus ideally connected to Frankfurt Airport, the DHL parcel and express network, as well as rail and highway networks.
“DHL Supply Chain offers a wide range of services in Florstadt, from specialized manual processing and handling by our specially trained employees to fully automated solutions for pharmaceutical logistics. A collaborative partnership with our customers, training for our employees, and standardized project support are among the success factors,” adds Murat Erzurumluoglu, the responsible Business Unit Director.
“For DHL Supply Chain, the opening of the new logistics center is also another important building block on the path to climate neutrality of its locations,” continues Chief Executive Officer Rainer Haag. The building has been awarded the Gold Standard by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). It features a 750 kWp photovoltaic system, heat pumps, and a 320 m2 solar air system that continuously supplies the climate-neutral warehouse with environmentally friendly energy.
The LSH campus Florstadt also holds all essential LSH certifications, such as GMP, GDP, and ISO 13485, and remains up to date with changing regulations.
