22. September 2022During the IAA in Hanover, DB Schenker, one of the world’s leading logistics service providers and market leader in European land transport, and Krone, a leading trailer supplier, handed over the first of 200 Krone Mega-Liners for DB Schenker’s French network. DB Schenker’s goal is to increasingly shift from standard trailer transports to mega trailer transports to carry more goods with a single truck.
(Frankfurt/Main) In the first step, the initial trailers will be replaced at DB Schenker in France. “The acquisition of the mega trailers offers us new opportunities to operate our network efficiently and thus become more environmentally friendly,” says Wolfgang Janda, Executive Vice President, Head of Network & Linehaul Management at DB Schenker. “This is another step in our effort to reduce our ecological footprint and become climate-neutral by 2040.”
Exchange First in France
DB Schenker will initially replace 200 of the approximately 2,100 French trailers with Krone Mega-Liners. The deployment will begin this year. In the future, only mega box trailers with double-deck systems will be used in network traffic. This will initially lead to higher costs, but in the long term, the company can expect greater efficiency, as more cargo can be transported with the same number of vehicles – and CO2 emissions will also be reduced. The logistics service provider expects that by 2029, around 6,300 mega trailers will be in use in Europe.
Joy Over the Trust
“On behalf of the entire Krone team, I would like to thank DB Schenker for the great trust placed in us,” says Ingo Geerdes, Sales Manager at Krone. “We are particularly pleased that the 200 Krone Mega-Liners will be part of this special sustainability initiative by DB Schenker. Krone also congratulates DB Schenker on its 150th anniversary! We look forward to continuing to collaborate on further outstanding projects and to being a reliable partner.”
