Austrian Post Inaugurates Logistics Center in Upper Austria
14. October 2022The construction of the new narcotics storage facility of Med-X-Press GmbH in Goslar is complete. 15 months after the first groundbreaking, the BtM specialist can now move into the new multiple-secured storage areas. Since 2010, the pharmaceutical logistics provider has been an outsourcing partner for companies in the complexly regulated BtM market and has continuously expanded its service offerings along the supply chain during this time.
(Goslar) Med-X-Press now has 4,500 pallet spaces for narcotics, making it the largest service provider in BtM logistics nationwide. “Considering that our company was only founded in 2005, this new building is an important milestone in our success story,” emphasizes Lars Dörhage, managing partner of Med-X-Press. The investment amounts to around 5.3 million euros, a large part of which is being invested in climate and safety technology as well as sustainable measures for the construction project.
Safety and Sustainability
The “climate safe” is actively temperature-controlled in all areas, including the loading and unloading hall. A loadhouse system shields the sensitive goods from external temperature influences already at the time of receipt. The extensive safety measures were finalized with the connection to the local police. The greening and the photovoltaic system on the roof implement an aspect of the company’s sustainability strategy. The specially trained staff works with the Quality Unit for the professional handling of narcotics.
One-Stop-Shop for Narcotics
Warehousing and distribution form the core business of Med-X-Press in the portfolio of outsourcing offerings. In the new BtM warehouse, temperature-sensitive products can also be stored in refrigerated cells at 2° to 8° Celsius. For stability storage of BtM/cannabis products, modern climate cabinets are available in the secured rooms. The compliant handling of stability samples includes 24/7 temperature monitoring. Other value-added services include support and advice for customers in completing formalities, imports, or obtaining necessary regulatory approvals.
Response to Significantly Increased Demand
With the significant expansion of storage capacities, Med-X-Press is responding to the increased demand for outsourcing solutions in the BtM sector, which received an additional boost from the conditional prescription capability of medical cannabis in 2017.
