10. March 2023Arvato Systems has joined the Federal Association of Courier, Express, and Postal Services e.V. (BdKEP). This association represents the business-political interests of medium-sized companies as well as companies in the courier, express, parcel, and postal services sector in Germany. Arvato Systems primarily offers digital solutions for this market through its cloud logistics platform platbricks®, for example, for managing micro-depots or through various courier apps.
(Berlin/Gütersloh) “We currently see a strong trend towards services in the area of Urban & Last Mile Delivery, which presents enormous growth potential for our modular logistics platform platbricks®,” explains Bernd Jaschinski-Schürmann, Head of Digital Supply Chain Management & Platform Business at Arvato Systems. “However, a successful entry into this market requires collaborative, digital services that cannot function without a strong partner network. BdKEP provides such a network, which is why we want to engage here in the future. At the same time, the association and its members benefit from our strong economic foundation as well as our high level of innovation and scalability.” One example of this is Arvato Systems’ participation in the European research initiative GAIA-X. As the consortium leader, the IT service provider is currently involved in the project “GAIA-X 4 ROMS” for the development of a mobility platform for autonomously navigating parcel stations.
“In many discussions with companies from various sectors, we perceive a significant need to automate, optimize, and make processes resilient. Current societal developments – e.g., the shortage of skilled workers, supply bottlenecks, or high inflation – further accelerate this trend,” adds Pascal Leppich, PreSales & Business Development at Arvato Systems. “Flexible, digital solutions like platbricks® can make a significant contribution to improving internal and cross-company collaboration. We are pleased to have found a partner in BdKEP who recognizes this and supports its members in overcoming these challenges with innovative solutions.”
Andreas Schumann, Chairman of BdKEP, says: “We are very much looking forward to collaborating with Arvato Systems. The partnership expands and enriches the respective networks and strengthens medium-sized KEP companies. This way, the challenges posed by digitalization can be better managed.”
The platform offers many possibilities
With its modular building block character, the Microsoft Azure-based cloud logistics platform platbricks® offers a wide range of optimization potential for courier, express, and parcel services. For example, when setting up so-called store or micro-depots, which are small warehouses in urban areas or local branches. From goods receipt to inventory management to delivery to the doorstep – companies have access to all processes of the urban supply chain via a central control station and mobile devices. In addition, platbricks® supports route planning – even on the last mile – and with the platbricks® Driver App, a native application for mobile devices, digital order processing including GPS tracking is enabled.
