Start of Toll Increase Using the Example of the Steel Forwarding Company Hergarten
1. December 2023For decades, Emons and CargoLine locations have worked together as bilateral partners. Starting January 1, 2024, the Cologne-based company and the group of freight forwarders will strengthen their collaboration. The focus is on achieving even greater network security. The medium-sized cooperation and the family-owned company will thus enhance the stability and resilience of their two networks.
(Frankfurt/Cologne) Disrupted supply chains due to pandemics, wars, crises, or economic uncertainties are prompting companies to establish alternative suppliers in different regions and to cooperate more closely. The German freight forwarding industry is also well advised to prepare for future risks. The volatile fluctuations in volume have posed a recurring challenge for freight forwarders for years. The shipment tsunami in 2021 brought the freight networks to the brink of their capacity limits – and even beyond. Even without such unusual events, the combination of increased shipment volumes, holidays, bridge days, waves of illness, traffic disruptions, etc., can temporarily restrict the performance of individual companies.
CargoLine and Emons intend to make both networks more stable and resilient against unforeseen events. With this common goal, Emons will join the freight cooperation as a partner on January 1, 2024. In consultations, Emons, like all CargoLine partners, will have one vote.
Both networks will retain their identity and will continue to operate independently. However, the synergies that will certainly arise from closer integration are indeed intended.
“We welcome the opportunity to better secure the performance of our two freight networks together with CargoLine. The discussions with our long-standing bilateral CargoLine partners have always revolved around the topic of quality. We are on the same wavelength in providing our customers with the best possible service. We have been connected via EDI for a long time. We look forward to an even more successful collaboration,” reports Ralf Wieland, CEO of Emons.
Strengthening the Medium-Sized Structure
“We are very pleased about Emons’ entry as a partner in CargoLine. By incorporating this renowned family business into the network, we strengthen our medium-sized structure and network security. It also helps that Emons and CargoLine are technically and qualitatively on equal footing,” adds Jörn Peter Struck, Chairman of the CargoLine Management Board.
