BALM Analyzes Container Traffic by Rail and Water
1. March 2024The SSI SCHÄFER Group, a family-owned company with over 85 years of history and an internationally leading provider of intralogistics solutions, recorded a revenue increase to EUR 1.87 billion (+3.2%) in the fiscal year 2023 based on preliminary figures. The group benefited from significant project completions in the Logistics Solutions and Customer Services business areas, which compensated for the revenue decline in the Products & Equipment segment.
(Neunkirchen/Siegerland) In the largest business area, Logistics Solutions, the recovery effects in the fourth quarter of 2023 were particularly noticeable after a cautious first half of the year; however, the order intake remained at around EUR 1.65 billion, which is 4.9% lower than in the previous year. Key reasons for the subdued investment climate were the challenging macroeconomic conditions triggered by political conflicts and the economic weakness in Europe. On the cost side, the comprehensive measures taken throughout the year to improve results had a positive effect. Based on the preliminary annual financial statements, SSI SCHÄFER was able to achieve a significantly improved annual result at the group level compared to the previous year, as well as a nearly balanced result before taxes.
Peter Edelmann, CEO of the SSI SCHÄFER Group: “The continuing difficult market conditions and the subdued investment environment present significant challenges for the entire intralogistics industry. Nevertheless, the SSI SCHÄFER Group was able to secure significant contracts in the fiscal year 2023, allowing us to start the year 2024 with optimism. We will continue to work hard with the entire team to set the organizational and strategic course for profitable growth. The key to success is quality and customer orientation – this is where we place our special focus.”
Innovation and Sustainability in Focus
A key focus remains on strengthening the innovation capability of the SSI SCHÄFER Group with the aim of significantly shaping the digital and sustainable transformation of the industry and enhancing its positioning as a technology leader in intralogistics. An important milestone on this path was the complete acquisition of DS Automotion, a leading provider of mobile robotics, which took effect in the first quarter of 2023. Furthermore, the SSI SCHÄFER Group was once again awarded numerous prizes for its intralogistics solutions last year, most recently with the prestigious Best of Industry Award in the category of “Conveyor Technology.”
