7. July 2024The Fiege Group increasingly relies on Artificial Intelligence across all areas of the company. The Greven-based logistics service provider has now established a controlled framework to ensure the responsible use of AI-based technologies throughout the company. Acting responsibly: Fiege has introduced five self-binding guidelines that regulate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the company.
(Greven) The guidelines are based on the EU’s Artificial Intelligence Act and focus on the principles of explainability, transparency, fairness, data protection, and robustness. The goal is to deploy AI-based technologies in accordance with generally accepted ethical standards and solely in line with the values of the 150-year-old family business, which is managed by the fifth generation.
Kenza Ait Si Abbou, board member and CTO at Fiege, explains: “Artificial Intelligence has the potential to radically change our society. Alongside the extremely important positive effects for us, the new technologies also bring risks that we cannot ignore. Therefore, it is our responsibility to use AI in designated areas and only for the benefit of our employees, customers, partners, and all stakeholders. We will fulfill this responsibility through our new AI guidelines.”
The guidelines aim to ensure that decisions based on algorithms and Artificial Intelligence are always traceable and explainable. “A central prerequisite for this is transparency, as it is the only way to build the necessary trust. All users must know in which specific areas and applications AI is being used,” says Ait Si Abbou.
Make Only Fair Decisions
It is also essential that only fair decisions are made with the support of AI. It is crucial to rely on technologies that comply with data protection regulations and are completely robust against any form of manipulation. Ait Si Abbou emphasizes: “Only applications that meet these five principles are eligible for use by us. This ensures that we truly support our colleagues in their daily work and deliver reliable added value for our customers.”
