Sep 13, 2024 at 4:11 PMTX Logistik AG and the freight wagon leasing company Wascosa AG have signed a framework agreement to expand their future collaboration. It primarily includes the further development of the existing cooperation in the field of freight wagon leasing as well as collaboration in the marketing of the NiKRASA transshipment system, which allows non-craneable semi-trailers to be loaded onto the rail quickly and easily.
(Troisdorf/Verona) The agreement includes an initial order from Wascosa for 125 NiKRASA plates worth around three million euros. The agreement was signed at the Quadrante Europe terminal in Verona by Ugo Dibennardo, CEO of TX Logistik, and Iris Hilb, CEO of Wascosa AG, in the presence of Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of Mercitalia Logistics. The meeting also served as an opportunity for a demonstration of the NiKRASA system.
Both partners have been working together for many years and want to use the new framework agreement to jointly tap into relevant markets based on mutual business relationships. “In the currently tense market situation, this partnership is a sign that we are looking to the future,” says Ugo Dibennardo, CEO of TX Logistik. “Beyond wagon leasing and the marketing of NiKRASA, we also want to work closely on transport solutions and innovative developments and advance these together with other partners.”
Wascosa is also the first partner with whom TX Logistik has entered into a NiKRASA cooperation. The rail logistics company, which is part of Mercitalia Logistics (FS Italiane Group), has designed the NiKRASA system from the outset to be freely accessible to all market participants and aims to attract more partners in the future. Ugo Dibennardo: “We want to contribute to achieving climate goals and ensure that the shift of goods from road to rail is easy and possible for all interested parties.”
The NiKRASA platform enables the transshipment of non-craneable semi-trailers, which currently make up about 90 percent of European truck fleets. They can be loaded from road to rail in just two minutes. Changes to existing standards at terminals, on the wagon, and on the rail are not necessary for this. In addition to classic semi-trailers, silos, and trailers with fixed structures, megatrailers as well as trailers without structures and container chassis can also be placed on the rail. If the NiKRASA loading platform remains empty in the wagon, swap bodies and containers can still be loaded as usual without the systems interfering with each other.
The cooperation partner and freight wagon lessor Wascosa is convinced of the potential of the solution. “The NiKRASA solution fits perfectly into our market strategy to generate customer benefits in rail freight logistics and simultaneously supports the shift to rail,” says Iris Hilb, CEO of Wascosa. “We will offer the transshipment system as a new standard service for the leasing of pocket wagons to facilitate shippers’ entry into the world of combined transport.” Market interest is palpable, as more and more shippers in Europe face the challenge of making their logistics chains more environmentally friendly and economical in the future.
The new cooperation also supports the sustainability strategy of Mercitalia. “The goal is to continuously expand our offering of environmentally friendly logistics solutions in Europe. The NiKRASA system, which is fundamental to the efficiency of terminals, represents a convincing combination with the development of intermodal hubs to promote the shift in traffic,” emphasizes Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of Mercitalia Logistics. “In addition, we are constantly working on the introduction of advanced technologies such as the digital automatic coupling, which helps improve efficiency and productivity in rail transport and reduce emissions while ensuring high service quality.”
Further Events in Europe
To practically convince as many market participants as possible of the advantages of the NiKRASA system, TX Logistik intends to organize further NiKRASA events in Europe together with Wascosa.
