Toll in Germany: 640 Billion Kilometers in 20 Years
1. February 2025More responsibility for the third generation of the Schuon family: Theo Schuon transfers his shares in the Alfred Schuon Freight + Logistics Group to his daughters Sandra Grimm and Bianca Kuppetz, as well as his son Alexander Schuon, who, as the majority owner, will take on greater leadership responsibilities.
(Haiterbach) Since 2015, Alexander Schuon has taken over the management of the company together with his father and has significantly advanced the expansion of the contract logistics business area as well as the sustainable orientation of the company. Theo Schuon will continue to serve as managing director of the family business. By transferring the company shares, he ensures continuity, aligns the transport and logistics specialist for the future, and simultaneously emphasizes his trust in his descendants.
“My primary goal is to secure the future of Schuon in the long term. By handing over to my children, I want to ensure that the values and self-understanding of our family business remain intact,” says Theo Schuon, who will continue to be the managing director of Schuon. In 2015, Theo Schuon had already transferred part of his company shares to his descendants. At the turn of the year, he increased the shares of his daughters, Bianca Kuppetz, Secretary, and Sandra Grimm, Head of Marketing. The majority of the company is now held by his son and managing director Alexander Schuon.
Trust in the Next Generation
“Alexander has my full trust. He has proven in recent years that he can lead Schuon with entrepreneurial foresight, as the company has developed excellently despite challenging competitive circumstances and is in a good position,” says Theo Schuon. His son has been with the company since 2006 and has been managing the operational tasks as managing director since 2015.
Expansion of Contract Logistics
Dipl.-Betriebswirt Alexander Schuon has pushed the expansion of services in the field of contract logistics, particularly in battery logistics, in recent years. After the first location in Wildberg was completed in 2020 with a hazardous goods warehouse for lithium-ion batteries, a second logistics center with an additional 30,000 square meters of storage and logistics space will be opened at this location this year. Alexander Schuon says: “The projects in Wildberg clearly show where we are focusing our efforts beyond the important transport sector: in expanding our services in contract logistics. The increasing complexity of global markets requires efficient, integrated logistics processes, and this is where we see further potential to create added value for our customers with our extensive experience.”
From Sole Proprietorship to International Logistics Expert
After Theo Schuon began his first part-time work for the company at just 14 years old in 1964, he fully joined the company in 1972 after completing his military service. In 1979, the then sole proprietorship was transformed into Alfred Schuon GmbH, and Theo Schuon was appointed managing director. Under his leadership, the family business in Haiterbach has significantly increased its transport volume and developed into an internationally active logistics company with over 650 employees in Germany and Hungary.
