BTK is doing well 25 years after the management buyout
18. February 2025The BERGERecotrail® lightweight trailers are among the lightest on the market and are ideal for transporting high payloads. The further developed ecoCHAMP LTO offers an even higher payload with a weight starting from 4.7 tons, without overloading the drive axle of the towing vehicle.
(Radfeld) Thanks to the shortened wheelbase, axle loads are optimally distributed, making the trailer also perfectly suitable for use with electric towing vehicles. The higher payload allows for up to 10 percent fewer trips, reducing costs and CO₂ emissions.
A high load capacity with low self-weight is essential for sustainable and economical transport solutions. Lightweight trailers like the ecoCHAMP LTO enable a higher payload through optimized load distribution, resulting in fewer trips required. This saves fuel, reduces wear, and minimizes CO₂ emissions.
The ecoCHAMP LTO utilizes a special lightweight construction with Reuleaux triangle technology, which allows for maximum material reduction in the longitudinal beam without compromising strength or stability. This reduces the trailer’s weight by 1.5 tons and further enhances its economic efficiency.
Optimized for high payloads and electric towing vehicles
When using heavier electric towing vehicles, the drive axle is often heavily loaded. To solve this problem, the three axles of the ecoCHAMP LTO have been repositioned and the wheelbase shortened. This ensures even load distribution and allows for the efficient transport of heavy loads – such as beverages or wood – without overloading the drive axle.
POWER CURTAIN for quick loading and unloading
Optionally, the POWER CURTAIN structure from Schmitz Cargobull can be integrated. This eliminates the need for top slats and achieves high structural strength according to DIN EN 12642 Code XL through vertical and horizontal reinforcements. Additionally, a theft protection mesh provides more security. Thanks to this design, loading and unloading times can be significantly reduced, further increasing transport efficiency.
Availability & Telematics for more transparency
Since early 2024, the BERGERecotrail® lightweight trailers will be available through the Schmitz Cargobull sales network. Customers benefit not only from comprehensive spare parts supply but also from additional services such as financing and insurance.
The standard equipment also includes the TrailerConnect® telematics, which provides real-time data on vehicle condition, tire pressure, and location. This increases safety and transparency in fleet management and helps optimize operating costs.
